Practical activities in ecology

Undergraduate studies in biology and marine sciences

    , ,

This book is focused to implement the theoric knowledge acquired into the practice. These practical activities are designed to analyze three main types of subjects covered during the course: forest ecosystems, aquatic and littoral ecosystems and a specific topic related to secondary production and ecological efficiencies with Silk worms as a model.

The main objective is that students can recognize and implement good scientific practices for experimentation. That means students have to design and execute practical research in the laboratory and in the field, evaluating the results and interpreting the data gathered.

These activities will allow the use of inductive and deductive methods correctly in the field of Biology, increasing the student skills to prepare, present and defend scientific and technical reports to an audience.
María José Lledó Solbes and Joan F. Bellot Abad are professors in the Department of Ecology at the University of Alicante. Alberto Vilagrosa Carmona is part-time professor at the same department and researcher in the CEAM foundation (Fundación Centro de Estudios Ambientales del Mediterráneo).
