Methodological guide for the creation of a protective environment for the rights of the child

Human rights in a europen community of values

In the guide, we emphasise the need for minimal theoretical training to advance the practice of human rights. We also part from the idea that the simplification necessary to explain and disseminate rights has a limit: the role of the teacher is indispensable; and teachers must logically have a deep understanding of human rights in order to teach them. The second motivation of our book is for the creation of an environment for the child, a space, in which its rights are guaranteed. Put quite plainly, the best way to teach human rights at school is to lead by example: the school itself
must be a space where rights are guaranteed.
